Children & Dogs

Things to do with childrenIf there is one thing that children and dogs have in common is that they always want constant attention and entertaining. Fortunately the Peak District has lots of activities for children and dogs.

The Monsal Trail is a traffic free route (except for bikes and horses) that allows plenty of letting off of steam and excitement. There are cycle hire opportunities at Blackwell Mill and Hassop Station or you can bring your own of course.  (Sadly neither cycle hire facility has bikes adapted so dogs can use them!)

There are lots of walks of varying lengths that centre on both Tideswell and Millers Dale, so it shouldn’t be hard to find a walk to tire your little excitable companions.  Please remember that we are a farming community and dogs, especially, should be kept on a lead whenever livestock is present.

Things to do with childrenChildren might like, no will like, the farm and playground at Chatsworth House.  Lots of animals that they can get close to and a fantastic play park for letting off steam.  Then afterwards into into the parkland with the dog and they’re both happy.

If theme parks are need to entertain them then there’s Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath or for bigger children Alton Towers isn’t far away.  In between all that there’s masses that will keep your little ones delighted and delightful.  For more information see the Tourist Board’s website.
