Walking in the Peak District

image008The walking in the Peak District is amongst the best in the world and Tideswell and Millers Dale is right in the heart of it.   The White Peak map (OL24) is the map for Tideswell and Millers Dale.

The Wye Valley is part of the Derbyshire Dales National Nature Reserve with Tansley Dale, Cressbrook Dale, Wye Dale, and Monk’s Dale giving you some of the best walks in the country all from your doorstep.

The Monsal Trail can be seen from Bank Top Cottage and the holiday home and is a converted former railway line that offers walkers, cyclists and horse riders a well-maimtained and superb route to enjoy.

image006Further afield, the gritstone moors like Kinder Scout give the more seasoned walker an opportunity to stretch the legs amongst stunning scenery.  The moors are a serious challenge and the weather can change quickly so we advise you to be properly equipped and  take you Dark Peak map (OL1) with you.

If you’re not too good at map reading and fancy learning a new skill, or developing a rusty one, then the Silva Navigation School is based in Tideswell.  Weekend or day long courses will give you they skills to enjoy the Peak District in safety and without getting lost.
